Pepper Chan
So I’m sitting there at a Manifest meeting, thinking, gee, I could so go for a drink right now.
These meetings would be much more entertaining, and the people much more attractive, if only I were drinking solidly… This was at slightly before lunch time, mind you.
So I took that frustration, and decided to make a drink from it. So here is the first Melbourne Anime Festival inspired cocktail: The Pepper Chan.
As the name implies, it’s meant to be a tad on the spicey side.
Glass: I’m liking a Colada glass for this one, but I don’t have any, so I went with the Tulip glass.
Ingredients:
- 30ml Dark rum
- 30ml Strawberry liqueur
- 15ml Blue curacao
- 15ml Butterscotch schnapps
- 180ml Guava juice (bottled stuff if you can find it. The canned juice tastes weird)
- dash of Tobasco sauce

See the "Dragon Breath"? That's a chilli butterscotch schnapps, if you feel like an extra kick of spice
Method: Pour in a decent amount of crushed ice, and pour the blue curacao over it. Place the remaining ingredients in a shaker, shaking vigorously, and then pour the rest gently, creating a nice two coloured effect.
Garnish: A little paper umbrella will go nicely with this one.
N.B.: Remember to use fresh Guava juice drink, instead of letting it sit in a plastic bottle for most of the week… The taste goes funky. Try to get glass where possible. Plastic and metal actually do get leeched into sugary drinks.
