Mandarin Hunter

11/09/09

Egofreaky

So this week (last week actually) Jaz wanted something that got rid of the mandarin’s we had around the place, but wnated it to be savoury.

Kinda hard, considering how sweet small mandarin’s are but I do what I can.

In comes the inventiveness! This one actually turned out a hell of a lot better than I expected it too. And yeah, the photo tent was packed away so Jaz could do her puzzle, but hey, it makes a kind of interesting background… doesn’t it?

Originally when thinking of this drink, I thought we still had a heap of mineral water left, because I’d bought six bottles about a fortnight ago. I kind of forgot that Jaz will happily go through two bottles of it in a night if we’re watching TV… So improvisation! We found some natural lemon squash, turned out better than I originally planned. Sweeter definitely, which I think imbalances it a little… but hey, this is the girl that just made our friend a drink consisting of American Honey, St Germain’s and a dash of bitters.

I might put that one up next week *cries a little inside*

Glass: Highball

Ingredients:

Method: Place mandarin slices in the glass and give them a bit of a muddle, then chuck in some ice and slosh it around so the ice gets covered by a bit of juice.  Buld the ret and give it a bit of a stir after you’ve put in the soda or squash.

Garnish: If you’re not going to peel the mandarin and make little twists of the ksin, I recommend placing a couple of slices over the edge of the glass. It’ll sit there quite nicely and look a little eccentric :D
