The Attic - Click for a full sized flier to print

Upstairs @ the Cranker, 196 Grenfell.st, Adelaide.

Traditional Goth club, and it has a pool table!

It occurs to me that I’ve actually been there before, accidentally, and quite some time ago. I found it a rather relaxing night as all the trad-goth and 80s stuff got played while I was there. I’m sure dance music was to come later. I was assure EBM and Industrial and all that was to come later… but I was already tired, having spent most of the day wandering around Adelaide and utterly destroying my Duke’s.

The couches are comfortable, the interior decorating is soothing dark shades of red and purple, the pool table has relatively few scores in the felt.

Perhaps the most interesting thing about The Attic as a club is that it also hosts (kinda) art exhibitions. Which is to say that local goth artists stick up their pictures with price tags, and then you go and pay for them at the bar and take them home as you leave. I picked up an especially nice print that creepily sits at the foot of my bed.

Located at Crown & Anchor, 196 Grenfell Street, Adelaide.

Drink Specials

High points are decent prices, nice people, and comfortable-without-being-sticky-in-a-suss-way furniture.

Low points are audio issues caused by the venue not being accoustically designed and speakers that could probably use replacement (if they haven’t by now).

Entry Fee is $10, or $8 when dressed to theme.

12 gawth points.
