It's a pity the actual event is never really as magical as the photos make them seem

I’ve been going to a lot of weddings lately. I’m at the time of life where all of my friends and aquaintances seem to realise their teenage / early 20s good looks are running out and they need to settle down before they get ugly, or otherwise live a wretched and shallow existence of continuously unfulfilling relationships, somehow figuring that a legal contract (because most of them are secular eents due to the inter-racial/religious nature of the modern wedding) is the way to prove commitment to a partner, rather than just sticking by them.

So I’m writing this at yet another wedding. Irrational fear of marriage leads to irrational irritation at weddings. Bad enough when I have to MC at them. Worse when I have to be at them. I think I’m going to take home some of the dessert platter. No one at weddings ever finishes the dessert platters as there’s always been so much before hand. Waste not want not, and this one being as classy as it is is likely to have some nice brie. (more…)
