Normally I wouldn’t post an anime convention, but considering the number of goths that seemed to show up to it last year (and the number that were handing out passes to DV8), and the number of people in Gothic type cosplay that just pings the gothdar even though it turns out that they listen to Korean pop music, and the way that anime actually kinda was a rather large part of the goth scene in the 80s due to it’s (then) subcultural edginess, I guess in a way Manifest can be considered an event for goths to some degree.

Manifest (Melbourne Anime Festival) returns in August 2011 for it’s 12th year. As Australia’s longest running and largest anime convention you can be sure that there is always something to do every minute of each of the 3 days of the convention. So with all the work I’ve been doign for Manifest, I figured, fuck it I need a drink.

Last year I made one after the mascot, Peppa Chan, but this year I’ve decided I hate her. Hate her with a passion only born of complete and utter neglect and then having her intrude on my psyche once more. So what else can I base a drink on and draw inspiration?

Well, if rumours are anything to go by, one of the guests I’ve been arranring is something of a party animal and he could probably do with a drink too, so let’s make a drink for him, and one of his better known roles. (more…)

Remember last year where posts mysteriously stopped for about 6 weeks? Yeah, it’s that time of year again, I’m PMSing… Or Manifest ing at the very least. Seriously, the event takes a lot out of me, like a succubus vampire crack dealer that works as a lawyer by day… or something.
